Concord is a 5v5 team-based first-person shooter for PS5 and PC that pits your team of Freegunners against rival teams. The 16 launch characters are mostly a band of mercenaries and outlaws that belong to a crew called the Northstar. After experiencing the early access beta, mechanics around characters felt similar to Overwatch, while its game modes lean more towards Call of Duty. So, here’s our Concord tier list ranking all the characters according to how effective they were in our matches.

Ranking Concord Characters in a Tier List

Source: TierMaker/Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

What are the Best Characters in Concord

After ranking all the characters in this tier list, it’s time to help you figure out which one is the best character for you in Concord. We’ll go over each character and their abilities briefly to help you figure out which ones align with your playstyle better.

Haymar – A Fire Mystic

Source: Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

Haymar is a powerful Freegunner that can hover over the battlefield and control fire at will. You can use her fire abilities to block enemy paths and deal explosive damage with her Flameshot Bow. Her versatile skills put her at the very top of this Concord characters tier list. If you’re planning an ambush or stuck in a corner, you can use her blinding flash to get the upper hand on the enemy team.

Yondu…I mean, Lennox is revered as one of the best Gunslingers in the galaxy, and for good reason. He can do some serious damage to enemies with his heavy handgun and a rapid-firing revolver. He’s also quite self-sufficient due to his self-healing abilities. His exploding knife also does a decent amount of explosive damage to enemies.

Crew Bonus

Warden: Increased Weapon Range.

Weapons

Bell Ringer Heavy Handgun
Chesterly Rapid-Fire Revolver

Combat Trait

Reloads weapon when dodging.

Passive Abilities

Gunslinger: Swapping from an empty weapon to the secondary weapon will auto-reload the stowed weapon.

Active Abilities

Claxton Healing: Regenerates health for a short duration.
Exploding Knife: Throws a knife at enemies that deal explosive damage.

Movement Skills

Can perform a double jump.

Duchess is a strong Mystic to have on your team, as she can block enemy pathways with walls that stay up even after multiple rounds. Not only can she control the battlefield, she can change the landscape of it. She can also blast enemies away with her Ruinous Blast ability. Her Ruinous Blast also makes enemies caught in the blase vulnerable to increased damage from your team.

Cew Bonus

Ranger: Better weapon recoil.

Weapons

BA02 SMG

Combat Trait

Dodge Reload: Reloads weapon while dodging.

Passive Abilities

Austorium Resistance: Duchess’ blasts won’t damage her if she’s caught in them.

Active Abilities

Construct Wall: Creates a wall on a designated spot obstructing enemy movements.
Ruinous Blast: Creates a blast zone that inflicts damage to enemies caught within and makes them vulnerable to increased damage from Duchess’ teammates.

Movement Skills

She can double jump.

Kyps is a great support character that can help teammates get the upper hand in more ways than one. For starters, she can deploy traps that flag enemies’ locations if triggered. If enemies’ skills are becoming a problem for your team, she can chuck a grenade at them, disabling their skills and damaging shields. She can also position herself easily behind enemy lines after turning invisible on dodge.

We personally had a lot of fun trying out IT-Z’s teleportation abilities. She’s fast, but her Cosmic Slip abilities position her as one of the fastest Freegunners in Concord. She can also distract enemies by leaving a decoy behind after teleporting or dodging. Her enemy weapon disruption abilities are really useful in intense situations where the enemy team is DPS-heavy.

Crew Bonus

Haunt: Increased mobility.

Weapons

Electrostatic SMG

Combat Trait

Evasive Maneuvers: Increased mobility when low HP.

Passive Abilities

Mirror Image: Dodging or Cosmic Slip creates a decoy.

Active Abilities

Cosmic Slip: Throws an orb to a designated location, and on the second activation, she teleports to the orb.
Scramble Rebound: Disrupts enemy weapons with chaos energy.
Roka shines when her Jet Propulsion boots keep her in the air, and she can shoot down a barrage of rockets at enemies.
Teo – Standard DPS Character

Source: Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

The role of TEO in Concord is similar to Soldier-76 in Overwatch. He provides a similar gameplay feel to a player who’s an avid Call of Duty or a Battlefield player who’s trying out a hero-based team shooter. He wields two good DPS weapons with great movement skills, like multiple dodges and jumps. Teo is also armed with two types of grenades that either let him enshroud enemies in smoke or damage them.

Crew Bonus

Ranger: Better weapon recoil.

Weapons

ZEG-12 Guild Gard Rifle
CL ROC 99 Guild Guard Sidearm

Combat Trait

Rapid Reposition: Increased mobility after performing a dodge.

Passive Abilities

Tactical Weapon Sights: See enemies through smoke when aiming down sights.

Active Abilities

Smoke Grenade: Throws a grenade that produces a cloud of smoke on detonation.
Cluster Grenade: Throws a frag grenade that splits into smaller explosives.

Movement Skills

Can perform double jump and double dodge.

Daveers – Burns Up The Battlefield

Source: Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

Our first impression of Daveers was that of a hybrid DPS support character. She can create flammable pools of Burnite that can either self-ignite or teammates can strategically set off to burn enemies. She can also throw darts at enemies to cause even more fire damage. However, her limited usability is what ranked her in the lower tier of our Concord characters tier list.

Crew Bonus

Breacher: Quicker dodge cooldown.

Weapons

MK 5 Burnite Grenade Launcher

Combat Trait

Resistant Dodge: Gain damage resistance for a brief time after a dodge.

Passive Abilities

Volatile Chemicals: Teammates can shoot Burnite pools and ignite them.

Active Abilities

Ignition Dart: A dart that inflicts fire damage to enemies and ignores Burnite pools.
Burnite Canister: Creates Burnite pools around an area that can self-ignite.

Movement Skills

Can perform a double jump.

Bazz – Enemy Tracking Ninja

Source: Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

Bazz is one of the most unique characters in this Concord tier list. Instead of a standard weapon, she wields throwing knives that inflict decent damage to enemies. She’s an expert at tracking enemies, especially if they’re hit with her throwing knives. Her mobility skills are the highest among all the characters, as she can double jump, triple dodge, and perform a boosted slide jump.

Crew Bonus

Haunt: Increased mobility.

Weapons

Carbon Steel Throwing Knives

Combat Trait

Skillful Tracker: Track enemies through walls while crouching.

Passive Abilities

Beacon Blades: Can track enemies hit with a throwing knife.

Active Abilities

Lunging Strike: Lunge and attack enemies with a deadly melee strike.
Scourge Star: Thrown items at enemies inflict vulnerability debuff on them so they take increased damage.

Movement Skills

Can perform double jump, triple dodge and boosted slide jump.

Lark – Buffing Algea

Source: Firewalk Studios via Gamepur

Lark is also a support and one of those situational characters in this Concord tier list. It mostly buffs teammates with haste and increases damage resistance while making enemies vulnerable and slower, which is nice. However, the Razorpod Launcher doesn’t output enough damage, and enemies can easily predict Lark’s returning to a planted pod ability.

Crew Bonus

Tactician: Faster Reloads.

Weapons

Razorpod Launcher

Combat Trait

Natural Dexterity: Gain faster reloads in a spore area.

Passive Abilities

Fungal Resistance: Damage resistance increases with the amount of active spores.

Active Abilities

Transplant Pod: Puts down a pod that Lark can return back to.
Spore Seed: This drops a spore on the ground that grows over time.
So these were all the best characters in Concord ranked in a tier list. This tier list is based on our first impressions in the early access beta and will be updated if there are any changes made to the characters.

The rankings are based on our personal experience with these characters, which may differ from yours. So we recommend trying every character anyway to see if you can utilize a character that aligns with your playstyle better.

Once Human is an interesting survival game that takes elements from popular games like Control and Palworld and puts its unique spin on the concepts. Where the game lacks is stability as several players have been reporting crashing, black screens, freezing, and stuttering in Once Human. These issues mainly occur in the main menu or when a player has access to a server. This guide will address such issues with some effective fixes to help you fix these issues in Once Human for good.

Best Fixes To Resolve Crashing, Stuttering & Freezing in Once Human

Source: Starry Studio via Gamepur

There is nothing more frustrating than your game suddenly quitting on you and sending you straight to the desktop. What’s more annoying is when your character isn’t responsive during a difficult boss fight due to the game either stuttering or freezing.

Here are some fixes that will help you resolve these issues for good so you can get back that smooth gameplay experience in Once Human.

Check Game Servers First

Once Human is a live-service game that heavily relies on its servers to function properly. Since the game is relatively new and free to play, a lot of players are rushing in to play it. This overloads the server and might be one of the reasons why you’re facing frequent crashes or rubber-banding in Once Human.

To check Once Human servers, you can visit the following platforms:

Discord

X/Twitter Account

Facebook Account

Turn Down In-Game Graphics Settings

Source: Starry Studio via Gamepur

Once Human lets you tweak a bunch of settings to tune the game’s performance and visuals to your preference. However, the higher presets of the graphics settings can actually cause problems for you as the game seems to have a memory leak issue.

So, the best course of action right now is to switch to the lowest possible preset for each graphics setting in Once Human. If the game runs well, you can later start to slowly bring up some of the settings up to the point that the game doesn’t crash on you.

You can check out our guide if you want the best Once Human settings for optimal performance.

Check For Game Updates

Sometimes the devs will push minor to major updates for the game while you’re playing it. If you’re facing stuttering or freezing or the game just gives you a black screen, it’s best to quit it and check your game client i.e. Steam or Epic Games for an update. Update the game if there’s one available and try booting up the game again.

This will surely resolve any issues that you were facing prior to updating Once Human.

Delete Baking_ppk Folder In Once Human Game Files

Source: Gamepur

This is one of the most effective fixes for people who’re facing crashes at the start of the game in Deadsville. However, you’ll need to delete a particular folder in the installation directory to work, which will fix the issues.

Here’s what you need to do in order to perform this fix.

Browse to the installation directory of Once Human. Since I downloaded the game on Steam, I simply located the game in my library and selected the “Browse Local Files” option.

In the game directory, head into the Documents folder and delete a folder called “Baking_ppk.”

After you delete the folder, boot into the game. You’ll need to rush through the story quickly and exit Deadsville.

If you fail to do it quickly enough and the game crashes, repeat the process until you make it out of Deadsville. Once you do that, Once Human won’t crash anymore, and you can play the game without worries.

Verify The Integrity of Game Files

Source: Gamepur

Sometimes, game files can go missing or corrupt due to third-party cleaning software or antivirus software flagging them. This happens quite frequently in other games, too, and the best solution is to verify your game files from your launcher.

Once you verify the integrity of files, the launcher will detect any missing/corrupted files and redownload them into the install directory. This will resolve any issues you had while launching the game or with crashing in Once Human.

Update GPU & Other Drivers

Outdated drivers are the number one reason for games stuttering or crashing on PC. If you have outdated drivers, I suggest you update them from your PC’s manufacturer’s website.

When it comes to GPU drivers, you can just download them from Nvidia or AMD’s official driver pages.

Once you’ve updated all drivers on your PC, you should do a reboot to ensure the installation is finished and the old drivers aren’t in operation.

Remove Any Overclocks on Your PC

If you own a high-end PC then overclocking your hardware is a fun and rewarding process to get extra performance. However, some games, especially the ones that are newly released, won’t really run well on overclocked hardware.

When there’s an incompatibility, they end up crashing or freezing, which might be something that happening on your PC too with Once Human.

I recommend disabling any overclocking profiles on your PC, whether it’s from third-party software like Intel XTU or Throttlestop or from Bios/UEFI. After you’re done, reboot your PC and try launching the game. If the problem was happening due to overclocked hardware, it shouldn’t happen anymore.

Close Down Unnecessary Background Programs

Source: Gamepur

Several programs are running on your Windows PC that will take up valuable resources that otherwise are meant for Once Human to run smoothly. This causes stuttering and freezing and even prevents you from launching the game altogether.

A simple fix to this problem is opening up Windows Task Manager and closing all unnecessary third-party programs that are taking up resources. Once you’re done closing down a bunch of programs, you can launch Once Human again and notice the night and day difference.

Exclude Once Human Directory in Antivirus

Antivirus can restrict your game’s access to PC resources, which can lead to issues like Once Human crashing, stuttering, and black screens. It does so by creating a false-positive malware report against the game.

To resolve this issue, simply go into your antivirus settings and add the Once Human install folder to the antivirus exclusions. This will prevent the antivirus from scanning your game and hopefully fix all issues with it.

These were all the best fixes you can try to resolve Once Human crashing, stuttering, and freezing issues. Hopefully, you’ll be able to play the game without any interruptions after applying these.

However, you don’t have to be a lone wolf throughout this journey as Once Human features Deviations that increase your odds at survival as well as assist you in combat. You’ll find several of them in the game. This is why, I’ll be ranking them in this Once Human Deviations tier list to help you discover the best ones.

What are the Best Deviations in Once Human?

So these were all the Once Human Deviations in our tier list ranked according to how great of companions they’ll be to you. Our rankings are purely based on personal experience and opinion and may differ from your experience. However, we have some favorites like Masonic Pyramid, Space Turner, Dr. Teddy, By-The-Wind, Canine Skull, and Pyro Dino.

If we take cuteness and other utilities into factor, Deviations like Buzzy Bee, Logging Beaver, and Chefosaurus Rex top the list. One of the most unique Deviation I’ve seen is the gingerbread house which basically turns Once Human into a game of Prop Hunt. However, its use case is quite limited which is why it’s ranked at the bottom tier.

But these are our brief thoughts on the Deviations in Once Human. If we come across more, then we’ll make sure to add them to our Once Human Deviations tier list. Until then, we recommend checking out our best settings guide for Once Human to boost in-game performance.

Once Human is finally released the game feels slightly better optimized than the past betas. However, there have been a lot of instances of frame rate drops and stuttering during our testing. Once Human still needs to optimize the game further for it to have spotless in-game performance. Until that happens, here are the recommended best PC settings for Once Human so you can optimize the game and get better FPS.

Best Graphics Settings for Once Human

Source: Starry Studio via Gamepur

Once Human has a pretty wide variety of graphics settings that you can tweak to get the best balance between visuals and performance. The game does have some pretty beautiful visuals but it gets FPS drops in some areas with an abundance of monsters, objects, and enemy players.

Try out the following best graphics settings for Once Human to improve the game’s performance on your PC.

Display Mode: Fullscreen.

Resolution: Native.

Brightness: Personal Preference.

Graphics: Medium (This controls the majority of the in-game visuals).

Max Frame Rate: Unlimited (The game is heavily CPU bound. Only go unlimited if you have a good CPU otherwise cap FPS to 60 FPS).

Texture Quality: High (The High preset looks great and will support most GPUs with 4GB or more VRAM).

Render Scale: 100% (Anything lower will look blurry/pixelated).

Anti-Aliasing: TAA (FXAA looks bad and SMAA takes a hit on your performance. Hence, TAA is a great choice).

Shade: Low (This controls the Shader Quality and is quite demanding on the GPU).

VFX: Medium (A good sweet spot between visual effects and performance).

Distance of View: Medium (Increasing the View Distance more will result in lower FPS as your PC will have to struggle more to render farther).

VSync: Off (Will increase input latency otherwise).

Motion Blur: Disabled (Looks very bad and also gives small (perceived) performance improvement).

Vegetation Density: Low (Very taxing setting, best leave it at Low until a future patch optimizes the game).

Detail Quality: High (This isn’t a demanding setting in our testing. You can go to Medium to save some performance).

I’ve tested Once Human with these on my PC with an Intel i7-11800H CPU, RTX 3070 GPU, and 32GB RAM. I got a stable 60 FPS experience on 1600P resolution with frequent dips in performance in certain areas. Turning down Vegetation Density, Shade, and Distance of View got me the most performance improvement.

Bonus Fixes for Low FPS in Once Human PC

After configuring the best settings for Once Human, follow these tips to fix low FPS in Once Human and gain additional performance.

Update your GPU drivers to the latest version. You can download the latest drivers by visiting Nvidia or AMD websites respectively.

Make sure to use Windows Task Manager and close any unnecessary background applications.

Disable in-game overlays for Steam, Discord, MSI Afterburner, and any other application you’re using.

Enable Windows Game Mode by going into the Windows Settings > Gaming Tab > Game Mode.

Delete temp files on your system by pressing CTRL + R > Entering “%Temp%” > Deleted maximum files in this folder.

Twitch Drops has become a go-to way for new games, mostly the ones that feature online multiplayer, to promote their games on launch. The said drops usually contain unique cosmetics that the players can equip in the game and they usually stop existing after the drop period ends. Similar Twitch Drop items have been revealed for Once Human. I’ll be going through how to get them and sharing my thoughts on whether they’re worth investing eight hours on Twitch or not.

Items/Loot Featured in Once Human Twitch Drops

Source: Starry Studio via Gamepur

Here are the Twitch Drops that will go live on the release of Once Human.

Thumbs Up Weapon Charm (One hour watch time): This is a pretty basic weapon charm that doesn’t look all that exciting. You’ll be able to, you’ve guessed it, hang it to a weapon of your choice and showcase it to your squad and other players in PvP encounters. Maybe you’ll feel the need to show a thumbs up to players or monsters who you just taken down.

Autumn Splendor Shoes (Two hour watch time): These are actually nice-looking timbs that will match the whole Autumn Splendor outfit you’ll acquire in the Twitch Drops. Since the game heavily features rough terrain and wooded areas, players rocking these shoes make sense to some degree.

Mayfly Cap (Four hour watch time): A roughed-up cap with hints of purple doesn’t look that enticing. It reminds me of the generic PUBG caps you got at the beginning which most players just ended up keeping back in the inventory.

Autumn Splendor Bottoms (Six hour watch time): The Autumn Splendor Bottoms actually look great. These are some of the items that will look great once you rock it with the whole set. The dark brown color with a lighter shade stripe across the legs does give a unique look to your characters.

Autumn Splendor Tops (Eight hour watch time): This is our favorite drop among all these items that they conveniently placed at the final tier of the Twitch Drop items for Once Human. The color and style of the jacket pair well with the boots and bottoms. However, you’ll need some serious dedication to complete eight hours of watch time to get your hands on this.

How to Claim Once Human Twitch Drops

So these are all the Twitch Drop items you’ll receive after watching affiliate Once Human Twitch streamers. You’ll first have to link your Twitch account to Once Human’s official website. Once linked, you can visit the official Twitch page for Once Human and watch any streamer that advertises having Once Human Twitch Drops active.

Judging by all the items, these drops are mediocre at best with only the Autumn Splendor set looking great in comparison. Hopefully, you’ll secure even better cosmetic items in-game, but if you’re a collector, these items might be your number one priority.

You can drop into Once Human Discord to see what the community has to say about the game, especially these Twitch Drop items.

The Void Fragments are these tall monolith structures with a glowing elemental core in the middle that you’ll spot around the map. These missions are a great farmable source for XP, Weapons, Gold, and valuable resources like mods and crafting materials. So destroying them and reaping their rewards is a no-brainer right? Well, they’re invulnerable to your gunfire which makes destroying them a bit tricky. Hence, I’ll explain how exactly you can destroy these Void Fragments in The First Descendant.

How to Destroy the Void Fragments?

Source: NEXON Games via Gamepur

Each Void Fragment has an elemental attribute associated with it I.e. fire, chill, toxic, electric, and non-attribute. Your descendant must have the skills of the same elemental attribute to damage and destroy that Void Fragment. You can either take these missions on Solo, with your teammates, or publically.

As you damage the Void Fragment once, the event will start and a hoard of Vulgus will start spawning in. After damaging the first portion of the health of the Void Fragment, it will gain immunity from all attacks until the wave of enemies is cleared.

Once you clear all the enemies, you’ll be able to damage the Void Fragment again (with skills of the same attribute, obviously). You’ll repeat this process until all three portions of Void Fragment’s health depletes and it’ll be destroyed. This is how you can destroy the Void Fragment featured in Void Missions in The First Descendant.

How to Identify the Element Type of a Void Fragment?

Source: NEXON Games via Gamepur

Checking out the elemental attribute of the Void Fragment is quite easy. All you need to do is open up your map and hover over to a particular Void Fragment mission that you want to do. You’ll see its elemental attribute in the fourth row of the tooltip (in this instance it’s Fire).

Once you find out the element of the Void Fragment, you’ll need to select a descendant with matching elemental skills. Here’s a list of all the descendants with their corresponding elemental attributes of skills to help you identify them.

Location and Rewards for The Void Fragments

Source: NEXON Games via Gamepur

Void Fragment missions are actually farmable and give you a lot of loot. The loot is not only from destroying the fragment itself but also from the hoards of enemies you mow down. You’ll get Gold, weapons, rare mods, Solenoid, and shards after completing the Void Fragment event.

Here’s a list of Void Fragments that we’ve encountered in The First Descendant as of writing this. I’ve listed their location and the type of shards you get as a reward below.

Element

Location

Rewards

Non-Attribute

Grand Square within Kingston

Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards

Electric

Rockfall in Sterile Land

Monomer and Polymer Shards

Fire

Restricted Zone in Sterile Land

Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards

Electric

Repository in Sterile Land

Monomer and Inorganic Shards

Chill

Ironworks in Sterile Land

Monomer, Polymer, Organic, and Inorganic Shards

What is the Use of Void Shards?

Source: NEXON Games via Gamepur

After accumulating enough Void Shards from multiple runs of the Void Fragment mission, you’ll need to deposit them into a Void Fusion Reactor. The reactor will be close to the Void Fragment so you can check the map for its location.

You have to check the requirement of the Void Reactor in the tooltip as some require specific Void Shards to get activated. After depositing the Void Shards into the Reactor, they will power it up and a hoard of enemies with a mini-boss will spawn. You’ll need to take them out to claim your rewards and a Reconstruction Device that may give you Amorphous Materials.

This is all that you need to know about destroying the Void Fragments in The First Descendant. Hopefully, you’ll get some sweet loot doing them over multiple runs.

The First Descendant has a heavy focus on co-op play which is why you’ll see several players running around. Now, it’s nice to have company. However, it gets frustrating when you’re trying to take your time with a mission and a random player jumps in, finishes it for you, and runs away to the next one. In a full lobby, it almost becomes impossible to start main missions from scratch as the game insists that you join a mission (that’s already in progress). With that rant out of the way, here’s a way that you can set your game world to Private in The First Descendant so you can play solo in peace.

Switch to Private/Solo Game in The First Descendant

Source: NEXON Games via Gamepur

In Albion, open up the map and then switch to the “World Map.”

Select the area that you want to make private and open it up. For this particular example, I’ll select Sterile Land.

Once you’ve opened up the map for that area, you’ll see a “Public” button on the top-left area of the map beside the name of the area.

Click on the “Public” button once and it’ll switch to “Private.” This will make the entire field private so nobody other than yourself or your party members will spawn in the field.

After you’ve made the area “Private,” now you can fast-travel to it and you won’t have to share the field with other players. You can easily start field missions solo without any interruptions. Since there isn’t a crowd of players in your vicinity, you’ll also get better in-game FPS in the First Descendant as a bonus.

Note: Do know that you can turn all the fields/areas in the World Map to Private except Albion. It’s a community hub hence it will remain Public by default. Additionally, you can only set an area/field to private before fast-traveling to it. You cannot change the privacy after you’ve traveled to it.

Source: NEXON Games

So this is how you switch your world to private in The First Descendant.

Dungeonborne is an upcoming first-person PvPvE dungeon crawler. It lets you explore creepy dungeons, go against increasingly tough enemies, and safely extract with all your loot. Since the game is going to be quite competitive, it’s only natural that you’ll want to be running a good character class that fits your playstyle. To help you make your decision, I’ve ranked all the Dungeonborne classes in a tier list.

Tier List Ranking All The Classes In Dungeonborne

Source: Mithril Interactive/TierMaker via Gamepur

Tier

Class

S

Cryomancer, Rogue

A

Pyromancer, Druid, Priest

B

Fighter

C

Swordmaster, Death Knight

At the time of writing, Dungeonborne’s playtest will give you a choice between 8 distinct classes divided into three races; Human, Elf, and the Undead. Each class falls into a typical RPG category of DPS, Healer, Mage, etc.

Although each class has its pros and cons, some are just simply better in terms of raw power, ease of usage, and general effectiveness in several situations. These are also the factors on which I based my Dungeonborne class tier list.

What Is The Best Class In Dungeonborne?

I’ll be briefly explaining each class mentioned in this Dungeonborne tier list, their skills, advantages, and disadvantages to help you make the final selection.

Cryomancer – Ice Element Mage

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Cryomancer is a formidable class that uses the ice element to damage enemies and freeze them in place. Their tanky nature and range of ice-based skills make them quite versatile in facing enemies head-on and from a safe distance.

Since this class is from the undead race, they’ll require you to defeat enemies and absorb their soul essence to regenerate energy. In terms of raw DPS, they also lack major firepower and cannot healed by holy magic from a teammate.

Active Skills

Explanation

Ice Storm

Creates an Ice Storm as a core which further summons strong Blizzard for 5 seconds which deals cold damage to enemies and gradually freezes/disables them in place.

Ice Barrier

Cryomancer encases themselves in an Ice Barrier that protects them from damage and regenerates their health over time.

Passive skills

requirement

explanation

Permafrost

30 Dexterity

Restores minor soul energy on critical hits.

Frostbite

33 Stamina

The first phase of Ice Storm does double damage.

Cryotherapy

45 Will

Accumulates stacks that can be used after activating Frost Barrier to get additional life.

Frost Echoes

44 Intelligence

Applies shield to allies during the second phase of Ice Storm.

Arctic Maelstorm

81 Intelligence

Increase the damage of the Blizzard based on how far Cryomancer is from it.

Rogue – Stealth Burst DPS

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Rogue is high on our tier list as it’s been our favorite class and to play as in Dungeonborne. This class has agility which means getting close to or far away from enemies is faster. They deal increased damage when attacking enemies from behind making them masters at surprise attacks.

You’ll be able to turn (nearly) invisible to sneak past enemies or target the weaker of the bunch to quickly eliminate them. You’ll also be able to paralyze enemies with skills. However, grouped-up enemies will be able to take you down relatively easily due to low HP stats.

Active skills

explanation

Petrifying Poison

Inflicts Petrify status on enemies which disables them for 10 seconds. The disabled enemies can’t take damage.

Vanish

Makes you nearly invisible for 15 seconds and the first attack after activation is a guaranteed critical hit.

Passive Skills

Requirement

explanation

Evaporate

62 Dexterity

Automatically vanishes after killing an enemy.

Featherfoot

93 Dexterity

Move faster in stealth.

Ambush

29 Strength

Adds life-stealing properties to Rogue’s first attack during stealth.

Toxic Bolts

60 Strength

Applies Petrifying Poison to ranged weapons.

Toxic Cloak

36 Stamina

Enters stealth after inflicting petrify status.

Pyromancer – Fire Element Mage

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Pyromancer is a magic user class that can shoot fireballs at enemies that inflict AOE damage. It’s most effective at fighting from a distance as enemies will make quick work of him at close range due to weak HP stats.

The slow movement speed also doesn’t work in its favor when creating distance between you and enemies. However, it has the ability to levitate which can help you get out of range of enemy attacks. Being a mage, Pyromancer holds mastery over magical weapons and can deal increased damage in certain scenarios.

Active Skills

explanation

Pyroblast

Normal activation launches 3 homing fireballs at enemies while charging it up launches one big fireball that does massive fire damage.

Fire Blast

Sends out a firey shockwave that knocks back enemies, deals small fire damage and slows them down.

Passive Skills

Requirement

explanation

Rekindle

42 Will

Reset the fire blast cooldown on the kill.

Swift Casting

30 Dexterity

Cuts down the time to channel the next fireball by half after hitting an enemy with the first one.

Ignite

50 Intelligence

Active skills put enemies under Ignite status which inflicts fire damage over time.

Iris of Fire

87 Intelligence

Creates a Fire Eye when targeting a fire source which automatically attacks enemies and causes short ignition.

Fire Shield

24 Stamina

While using Fire Blast, gain a shield for a short duration.

Druid – Shapeshifting Summoner

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Druid is the latest addition to the classes in the playtest. This Elf class uses nature’s energy to transform into a panther to boost mobility and remove debuffs. They can also summon big tree-looking monsters called Treants who immediately start attacking enemies in their vicinity.

The skills Druids wield paired with short-term increased mobility make them effective in both close and long-range combat. However, you should keep energy consumption in mind while using skills as if it depletes during fighting, things can turn ugly.

Active Skills

Explanation

Primal Awakening

Removes all negative effects and transforms Druid into Panther Form. This form increases movement speed by 100. It costs 30 Primal Energy on activation and consumes 4 Primal Energy every second after transformation.

Force of Nature

Summons a Treant monster that attacks enemies nearby which grants a shield to Druid. You can use Shadow Assault to direct Treant’s attacks toward specific enemies.

Revert

Revert to human form after transformation

Shadow Assault

Consume Primal Energy to lunge forward and deal shadow damage to enemies on landing. You can restore primal energy with basic attacks and using Shadow Assault in Panther Form.

Passive Skills

Requirement

Explanation

Predatory Sense

36 Dexterity

Sense enemy players within 30m in Panther Form.

Seed Pods

45 Will

Hold additional charge of the Force of Nature

Hunter’s Focus

81 Intelligence

Shadow Assault restores Primal Energy.

Natural Swiftness

27 Stamina

Reduces Force of Nature cooldown to 30 seconds.

Nature’s Breath

44 Stamina

Treant summoned by the Force of Nature skill gets an additional 150-point shield.

Priest – Healer and Stats Booster

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Priest is an invaluable support class that uses holy spells to help teammates and heal their HP. Base defense stats might not be great, but its protection spells give it a shield that also increases movement speed.

The Priest class wields fire, and lightning spells and can also deal physical damage to enemies. To top it all off, it’s the only class that has the ability to resurrect fallen teammates. Due to being a support class, it’s not recommended to play it solo as it has weak damage output.

Active Skills

Explanation

Divine Guidendace

Casts a spell in a targeted area that heals teammates and damaged enemies within its radius.

Divine Guidance

Gives a shield to a specific teammate or themselves which grants immunity to damage.

Passive Skills

Requirement

Explanation

Cleansing Rites

38 Faith

Cleanses all debuffs from a target and gives immunity from debuffs for a short duration.

Resurrection

75 Faith

Ability to revive teammates but can be used once per adventure. The ability can reset if players use a corrupted portal.

Faithful

30 Stamina

Restore moderate mana on critical hits.

Benediction

48 Intelligence

Adds additional charge to Divine Protection.

Recompense

24 Dexterity

Healing will also increase target’s movement speed.

Fighter – Versatile Tank

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

The Fighter is your regular tanky knight class that can wield almost every weapon in Dungeonborne. It specializes in close combat with high DPS, good mobility, and strong AOE damaging skills.

This is a particularly great choice for solo players who wish to have a standard “Dark Souls” dungeon-crawling experience. However, that is pretty much it. It doesn’t have any cool skills (besides spinning like a Beyblade) or unique gameplay mechanics. Even though it’s a pretty effective class, it comes off as boring in comparison to other classes on this list. But that’s just our opinion.

Active Skills

explanation

Whirlwind

Starts to spin in 3rd-person dealing high damage to all enemies around your character.

Rush

A quick but brief dash forward towards the aimed direction.

passive skills

requirement

explanation

Proficiency

50 Strength

Moderately increases Whirlwind speed.

Fired Up

87 Strength

Rush cooldown resets on enemy kill.

Vengeful Riposte

33 Dexterity

Next attack after parrying/blocking will be a critical hit.

Weapon Mastery

42 Stamina

Whirlwind gains a shield on activation.

Restraint

27 Will

Deactivates friendly-fire as Fighter won’t be able to damage or receive damage from teammates.

Swordmaster – Ranged Fighter

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Swordmaster’s whole gameplay mechanic is based on stocking up on multiple swords to use in skill which makes it a difficult class to use in Dungeonborne. It can transform the swords equipped in slots into magic-enchanted blades that deal burst damage to enemies.

They’re also an effective melee combatant that can deal decent damage to enemies. However, you’ll need to use skills to survive the increasing difficulty of the dungeons. The skills themselves are pretty resource-intensive to use.

Active Skills

Explanation

Psionic Blades

Creates 4 magical blades that deal high damage to enemies and restore small HP.

Whirling Blade

Creates a single Psionic sword that whirls around Swordmaster and damages enemies for 8 seconds.

Passive Skills

REquirement

Explanation

Momentum

35 Dexterity

Hitting an enemy with Psionic Blades increases the critical strike chance for 5 seconds.

Crippling Strike

72 Dexterity

Psionic blades slow down the enemy’s movement speed for 5 seconds.

Healing Scabbard

54 Strength

HP recovered by Psionic blades is increased significantly.

Deflection

36 Stamina

Whirling Blade reduces Swordmaster damage received for the duration of activation.

Flurry of Blades

27 Will

Skill cooldown reduction after shooting 3-4 swords.

Death Knight – Hybrid of Tank and Mage

Source: Mithril Interactive via Gamepur

Death Knight was one of our favorite classes in previous playtests. However, it has been heavily modified/nerfed in the latest Dungeonborne build. It has a range of great skills that do decent AOE damage and can also pull enemies from afar.

The biggest downside to using the Death Knight class is that you won’t receive healing from holy magic in a squad making it harder for you to survive. This fact, paired with a very low mobility gets Death Knight ranked at the bottom of our Dungeonborne tier list, despite its cool Grasp of the Grave skill.

Active Skills

Explanation

Soul Shroud

Summons evil spirits that slow down and damage enemies nearby which scales with your Strength, Will, and Intelligence stats.

Grasp of the Grave

Pull enemies and teammates from afar into melee range. It also deals a small amount of Shadow damage.

Passive Skills

Requirement

Explanation

Soul Reaper

42 Intelligence

Grasp of the Grave cooldown will reset after killing an enemy.

Life Steal

24 Will

Gain small HP for every Soul Essence orb absorbed.

Grim Harvest

45 Strength

On hitting an enemy with Grasp of the Dead will restore some Soul Energy.

Endless Torment

33 Dexterity

After activating Soul Shroud, each absorbed soul energy will extend the skill’s duration.

Soul Cage

39 Stamina

Gain a shield on activating the Soul Shroud.

The classes in this Dungeonborne tier list are quite distinct from one another. However, you may even find the ones in the lower tier to fit your playstyle better and that’s totally fine. These rankings are purely based on our impressions from the Dungeonborne Playtest. Classes may get buffed or nerfed in future patches leading up to final release so these rankings are not yet final.

All of The First Descendant best characters fit into the usual three RPG roles; damage, tank, and support. In addition to these classes, there are unique twists to character roles that will keep the gameplay loop interesting.

What are the Best Characters in The First Descendant?

Bunny, Gley, Valby, Blair, and Freyna are the most enjoyable characters to play with on day one. Some characters like Fire, Chill, Electric, and Toxic have an element associated with them. The elements also play an important role in AOE attacks, especially while facing several enemies at once. Some elements are more effective towards certain enemies so your team combinations play a vital role in missions.

Even in tiers below S, characters like Enzo with his drones, Blair with fire attacks, Gley with her rage abilities, and Kyle with his magnetic abilities will be enjoyable to play with. Even with slight buffs, these characters can easily climb to A or even S-tiers.
